Karate
Literally "empty hand" or "Chinese hand". A modern Japanese martial art based on older styles of striking martial arts from Okinawa.
The Okinawan 'art of the empty hand'. Introduced into Japan in 1922, it has subsequently spread all over the world, mostly in slightly modified Japanese forms.
